Oaxaca registers a 4.0 magnitude earthquake in San Pedro Pochutla

Two distinct seismic events were reported by the Servicio Sismológico Nacional on August 23. A 4.0 magnitude earthquake occurred at 11:34 hours, centered 66 km south of San Pedro Pochutla, Oaxaca. A separate 4.0 magnitude earthquake was recorded at 13:41 hours, located 40 km south of Sayula de Alemán, Veracruz, at a depth of 144.5 km.

These reports indicate two separate geological incidents occurring in different states within the same day. Both events were classified as magnitude 4.0, though they differed in their specific geographic coordinates and times of occurrence.
