NAIROBI, Kenya Sep 4 — Nyandarua Senator John Methu has visited ODM leader and Siaya Senator Oburu Oginga at his Nairobi residence, days after the veteran politician was reported to have been unwell and admitted to hospital. Methu said he was happy to find Dr Oburu in high spirits when he checked on him at his Nairobi home on Friday morning. Oburu Odinga in high spirits when I checked on him at his Nairobi residence this morning,” Methu said.

Dr Oburu, 83, had recently been reported to be unwell and was admitted to hospital before being discharged. His illness and subsequent absence from public engagements had sparked concern among his supporters and political allies. His recovery has been closely watched because of his position as ODM party leader and his role in the political succession following the death of his younger brother, former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

Methu’s visit was also notable because he is associated with a rival political faction, making the gesture significant against the backdrop of divisions and competing political alignments ahead of the 2027 General Election. The Nyandarua senator did not disclose details of Dr Oburu’s condition but said he found him in good spirits. Methu also arrived at the ODM leader’s residence bearing goats, in what appeared to be a goodwill gesture to his colleague during his recovery. The visit offered a public glimpse of Dr Oburu after weeks away from the political spotlight.

The Siaya senator took over as ODM party leader following the death of the Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga and has since been at the centre of efforts to steer the party through a period of significant political uncertainty. His recent illness came at a time when ODM’s political direction and its relationship with other parties have attracted intense attention, particularly as politicians begin positioning themselves for the 2027 elections. NAIROBI, Kenya Sep 4 – Siaya Senator and ODM leader Oburu Odinga has received another visit at his Nairobi residence, with Nyandarua Senator John Methu saying he found him in high spirits.

Methu visited Oburu on Friday morning and delivered goats and sheep as he checked on his colleague, who has been resting at home after a recent hospital visit. “Happy to find my colleague Oburu Odinga in high spirits when I checked on him at his Nairobi residence this morning,” Methu said. The visit comes as a number of political leaders continue to visit Oburu and check on his wellbeing following reports about his health.

On Thursday, Oburu received Senate Energy Committee Chairperson Senator William Kisang, Vice-Chairperson Senator Beatrice Ogolla and Engineer Nicholas Gumbo at his Nairobi residence. The leaders said their visit also provided an opportunity to discuss the work of the Senate Energy Committee. They held talks on committee meetings, the legislative agenda and policy oversight in the energy sector.
