NewzThe Oceans Calling festival in Ocean City, Maryland, has canceled the first day of its three-day concert event due to a powerful nor’easter that’s been moving up the coast. The festival said in a statement Thursday that for the safety of fans, crews and performers, Friday’s shows will not go on as planned. “Despite the extraordinary efforts of our production, site, safety teams, and the city staff/officials the impacts of this week’s continued weather, including beach erosion that affected the festival site, have made it impossible to safely complete the build in time for Friday,” Oceans Calling said.
The acts set to perform Friday included Dave Matthews Band, Hootie and the Blowfish, Ludacris, O.A.R., Yellowcard, Shaggy, Liz Phair, Gavin DeGraw and KT Tunstall. The festival said Friday’s one-day tickets and 33% of three-day tickets purchased directly through vendor Front Gate Tickets will be automatically refunded in as little as 30 days. As of Thursday afternoon, the festival is still set to take place on Saturday and Sunday.
