Ohio State and Oregon are 1-2 in the AP preseason Top 25, SEC leads conferences with 9 ranked teams

Ohio State and Oregon claim the top two spots in the Associated Press preseason Top 25 college football poll released Monday. The Buckeyes secured 40 first-place votes, while the Ducks also received top-rank support, rounding out a historic achievement for the Big Ten Conference.

This marks the first time in 65 years, and only the second time ever, that the Big Ten has swept the top two positions in the preseason rankings. Behind the top two, Georgia, Notre Dame, and Texas complete the top five.

While the Big Ten holds the peak of the rankings, the Southeastern Conference (SEC) leads the conferences overall with a total of nine ranked teams in the preseason poll, securing regional bragging rights.
