Tropical wave forms in the Atlantic and poses no threat to the Dominican Republic

The United States National Hurricane Center (NHC) reported on Monday that a tropical wave moving off the western coast of Africa has organized in the Atlantic. The system's probability of cyclone formation over the next seven days has been increased to 60 percent as it begins its westward displacement.

Despite the elevated formation probability, meteorological assessments indicate that the developing system currently poses no direct threat to the Dominican Republic. Monitoring of the system's progression across the Atlantic continues by international forecasting agencies.
