One in three Kiwis think disaster will come with enough warning. The number is rising

Approximately one in three New Zealanders believe they will receive adequate warning before a disaster strikes, according to recent findings. This proportion is on the rise, accompanied by a sharp increase in reliance on emergency responders and official warnings since 2023.

The trend is particularly pronounced among specific demographics. Younger populations and residents of Auckland are notably more likely than others to anticipate receiving help and sufficient notice prior to an emergency event.
