Affordable child-care program extended in Ontario, but not to $10 a day

Ontario and the federal government have agreed to extend the national affordable child-care program within the province for an additional four years. The agreement maintains the existing framework without any commitments to further reduce parent fees down to $10 a day.

With this four-year extension, Ontario joins the majority of jurisdictions participating in the federal child-care initiative. Prior to this agreement, Ontario and Alberta were the only two provinces that had not yet secured longer-term deals under the national program.
