Former Governor of Abia State and Senator representing Abia North Senatorial District, Orji Uzor Kalu, has said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s prospects in Osun State remain “very bright” ahead of the 2027 general elections. Kalu said Tinubu would enjoy strong support from stakeholders across the political spectrum, including members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Accord Party in Osun State. He made the assertion in a statement issued by his media office on Sunday, following President Tinubu’s congratulatory message to Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, on his re-election.

Kalu congratulated Adeleke on his victory while sympathising with the APC leadership, stakeholders and the party’s governorship candidate over the outcome of the election. “I join President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in congratulating Governor Ademola Adeleke on his re-election as the Governor of Osun State. I also sympathise with the APC leadership, our party’s governorship candidate and all our supporters over the outcome of the election,” he said.

The former Abia governor also commended the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy and former Osun State Governor, Gboyega Oyetola, for his contributions to the development of the state. According to Kalu, the outcome of the Osun governorship election reflected democracy at work and should be respected by all stakeholders. “What happened in Osun is democracy in play.

Elections are about the choice of the people, and as a party, we should be able to come back stronger,” he said. Kalu maintained that the election result should not be interpreted as a setback for Tinubu, stressing that the President’s political prospects in Osun remained strong ahead of the 2027 presidential election. He called on political leaders and supporters to remain committed to the democratic process and continue working for the progress and unity of Nigeria.
