Panama under heat warning: the heat index could reach 42 degrees

Panama is currently under a heat advisory as authorities warn that the combination of high temperatures and humidity could push the heat index to 42 °C. The National Civil Protection System (Sinaproc) has issued an official alert, highlighting the potential risks to public health posed by these extreme conditions over the coming days.

Simultaneously, Peru is experiencing its own period of extreme heat, with the National Service of Meteorology and Hydrology (Senamhi) issuing a red alert for several regions. This advisory, effective from August 10 to 13, warns that daytime temperatures are expected to significantly exceed normal levels, marking a period of intense thermal stress across the country.
