Papua New Guinea ‘Lost Fish’ rediscovered with help from local communities

One of Papua New Guinea's most elusive freshwater fishes has been successfully rediscovered after being absent from scientific records for more than four decades. The finding follows a comprehensive survey conducted along the Sepik River.

The successful rediscovery of the species was achieved by combining formal scientific fieldwork with the traditional knowledge of local communities living along the river.
