Paraguay’s tech minister defies Beijing sanctions, says Taiwan ties ‘not up for negotiation’

Paraguay’s Minister of Information and Communication Technologies, Gustavo Villate, stated on Thursday that recent sanctions imposed on him by Beijing will not alter his country’s diplomatic relationship with Taiwan. Villate asserted that the ties between Asunción and Taipei remain non-negotiable and suggested that the punitive measures from China would instead serve to accelerate ongoing joint technology projects between Paraguay and Taiwan.
