Parents of San Diego mosque gunman say a mental health facility failed to heed FBI warning

The parents of Caleb Vazquez, one of two teenagers who carried out a mass shooting at a San Diego mosque, have filed a lawsuit against Park Mental Health Treatment of San Diego. The legal action alleges that the facility failed to act after federal law enforcement officials warned them just days before the attack that Vazquez was making concerning comments about school shootings on the dark web.

The lawsuit centers on the assertion that timely intervention by the mental health facility could have prevented the tragedy. In response to the allegations, Park Mental Health Treatment of San Diego has disputed responsibility for the teenager's subsequent violent actions, setting up a legal battle over institutional accountability and the handling of advance warnings from federal authorities.
