Observer: The government needs to create data protection standards for MSMEs

Nailul Huda, Director of the Digital Economy at the Center of Economics and Law Studies (Celios), has urged the Indonesian government to establish formal standards for data protection specifically tailored for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). This call comes amid concerns regarding the vulnerability of smaller businesses in the digital economy.

Beyond government regulation, Huda emphasized that the initiative must also focus on increasing data protection literacy among MSME operators themselves. Strengthening these internal capacities is presented as a necessary step to secure personal data within the sector and ensure broader digital security for small-scale business entities.
