Peru will no longer allow advance reservations through the digital ticketing system for Machu Picchu.

The Government of Peru has eliminated the possibility of making advance ticket reservations for Machu Picchu through its digital platform. Announced by the Ministry of Culture in Lima, the measure changes the commercialization system for the country's primary tourist attraction.

The decision was enacted after authorities found that the digital sales platform had become overwhelmed by users holding and setting aside tickets without completing purchases. Moving forward, visitors must acquire their entry passes directly rather than relying on the prior reservation mechanism.
