ROME, Italy (AFP)—Rising star Pio Esposito has signed a long-term contract extension until 2032 with Inter Milan, the Italian champions announced on Sunday. The 21-year-old forward impressed with 10 goals in all competitions in his first season in the Inter first team last term, after a successful loan spell at second-tier Spezia. He has also netted five times in just nine appearances for beleaguered Italy.
According to Italian media reports, Esposito, who was linked with several English clubs over the summer, has more than doubled his salary. Inter have won the first three matches of their Scudetto defence, overturning a two-goal deficit in the second half to defeat Napoli 3-2 on Saturday.
