Plunkett signs Man Utd deal, secures Jamaican citizenship

KINGSTON, Jamaica— Manchester United youngster Dante Plunkett has signed his first professional contract with the English club and has also obtained Jamaican citizenship, making him eligible to represent Jamaica internationally. According to BBC Sport, Plunkett is among three Manchester United youngsters to receive good news, with goalkeepers Will Murdock and Fred Heath also signing contracts. Murdock has signed his second deal, while Heath has put pen to paper on his first.

Plunkett, 18, has endured a difficult time with injuries and made just 13 appearances across all competitions last season. He is yet to feature this season after undergoing surgery last month, which is expected to keep him out until towards the end of 2026. Despite his limited playing time, Plunkett is clearly highly rated at United.

He was a last-minute substitute in the club's FA Youth Cup final defeat to Manchester City in May. His acquisition of Jamaican citizenship also means he can pursue international honours with the Reggae Boyz.
