DODOMA: PRIME Minister Dr Mwigulu Nchemba has directed ministries and institutions benefiting from funds raised through the NBC Dodoma Marathon, to ensure every shilling is spent transparently and delivers measurable, lifesaving health outcomes for Tanzanians. Launching the seventh edition of the NBC Dodoma Marathon in the capital city over the weekend under the theme Kata Wese Okoa Maisha, Dr Nchemba said resources raised through the annual event must be managed with strict value for-money principles, stressing that success should be measured by improved healthcare services rather than the amount of money collected. “When you are dealing with health issues, you are talking about the lives of Tanzanians.
Every shilling invested through this marathon must produce visible and measurable results,” he said. The Prime Minister said the marathon has grown beyond a sporting event into a national platform for promoting healthy lifestyles, mobilising resources for healthcare and supporting the fight against cervical cancer. Dr Nchemba reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening healthcare infrastructure and expanding access to quality medical services, saying good health is essential for economic productivity and national development.
