On the afternoon of Wednesday, August 12, a new episode of violence against public transportation occurred in the Valdiviezo urbanization within the Ate Vitarte district, resulting in a bus driver from the Nuevo Horizonte company being gravely injured.

Prior to the attack, the National Police of Peru (PNP) stated that there had been no reported attacks against public transportation for a period of 19 days leading up to the incident.
