KINGSTON, Jamaica — The People's National Party (PNP) is calling on State Minister in the Ministry of National Security, Juliet Cuthbert Flynn, to state publicly whether she is under investigation by the Integrity Commission for illicit enrichment. The PNP, in a press release on Wednesday, said it is deeply troubled by deleted social media posts by Cuthbert-Flynn in which the party said she appeared to minimise the seriousness of illicit enrichment as a criminal offence. “The posts include statements which indicate that Mrs Cuthbert-Flynn may herself be the subject of Integrity Commission scrutiny.
However, instead of clarifying this, she chose to delete her posts,” the PNP said. “The Jamaican people, both at home and in the diaspora, deserve honesty and precision from their public officials, particularly one entrusted with national security.” In a post on X, formerly Twitter, Cuthbert-Flynn on Monday said that the IC, a few months ago, tried to enter her home but was turned back. “The IC only a few months ago tried to enter my home and didn't want to give the gate any information.
They told the security they wish to visit my premises. They were turned back because they tried to visit without prior notification from me, the resident. I was shown the video of their vehicle,” she wrote.
The state minister further wrote: “Illicit enrichment is to rile up all people who dislike politicians. Unfortunately, that stain stays after all is cleared, and the hate remains.”
