Negeri Sembilan police chief Alzafny Ahmad urged the public not to speculate or circulate the video as it could interfere with the investigation or disrupt public order.PETALING JAYA: Police have opened an investigation into a TikTok video in which a man allegedly claimed that a political party had gained control of the Negeri Sembilan royal institution, Berita Harian reported.Negeri Sembilan police chief Alzafny Ahmad said the case is being investigated under the Election Offences Act for promoting hostility, the Penal Code for making statements that could cause public fear, and the Communications and Multimedia Act for the misuse of network facilities.Alzafny said investigators would examine the full recording of the video and the context in which the remarks were made.He also urged the public not to speculate or circulate the video as it could interfere with the investigation and disrupt public order.“Everyone must use social media responsibly and avoid making statements involving race, religion and royalty that could cause unease or tension,” he said.Earlier today, the Negeri Sembilan palace had urged all parties contesting the state election not to link the royal institution to their speeches or campaigns.Comptroller of the Royal Household Azizi Mohamad Ali said the palace remained strictly neutral and was not aligned with any political party.The warning followed similar calls during the campaign.Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim had previously urged parties not to politicise matters involving the state’s royal institution, while Umno deputy president Mohamad Hasan called on candidates to leave issues involving Negeri Sembilan’s adat institutions out of the campaign.The election will be held on Aug 1.
