Police told to pay up over false arrest

The Supreme Court of Thailand has ordered the Royal Thai Police to pay 4.38 million baht in compensation to Ritrong Cheunjit following a wrongful arrest and torture incident that occurred in 2009.

The ruling successfully concludes a 17-year legal battle pursued by the victim to seek accountability and damages for the unlawful actions committed by law enforcement authorities.
