Police identify suspected perpetrator of attack on Julián Oro Duro's house

The Dominican National Police have identified Kevin Dariel Germán Troncoso, also known as "Kevin" or "Yandel," as a primary suspect in an attack on the residence of merengue artist Gilberto Julián Sarante Perdomo, widely known as Julián Oro Duro, in Santo Domingo Este. The violent incident resulted in the death of the artist's wife, Zeneida Socorro (also referred to as Zenaida Socorro Castillo).

In response to the tragedy, the Chamber of Deputies observed a minute of silence on Tuesday in memory of Socorro Castillo, following a request by Deputy Fiordaliza Estévez. Meanwhile, the investigation has drawn public commentary from the victim's family and legal representation. Ángela Sarante, the sister of the merenguero, expressed belief that her sister-in-law must have known the attackers because she was traditionally very cautious about who she allowed into her home. Conversely, Cándido Simón, the legal representative for Julián Oro Duro, publicly alleged that authorities may be "looking for a culprit" simply to close the case.
