Prague zoo keeps polar bears cool with ice cubes as European summer heatwave hits

PRAGUE — Keepers at the Prague Zoo used tons of ice on Thursday to help animals cope with relief efforts as a summer heatwave struck Europe.

Among the recipients were the zoo's polar bears, Aleut and Gregor, who quickly took to rolling around in beds of ice cubes after entering their outside enclosure.

The cooling measures come as part of broader efforts by the facility to protect its animals from the high temperatures affecting the region.
