Florida has announced plans to issue up to 215 permits for black bear hunting this year, marking the state's second bear hunt in a decade. This figure represents an increase of 43 permits compared to the previous year's allocation.

In addition to expanding the overall number of permits, the state will reserve a portion of them for large private landowners for the first time. This policy adjustment follows previous actions in which opponents of the hunt purchased available permits.
