Referee body admits ‘error’ for Haaland goal in Manchester derby

The officiating organization stated that allowing the goal was an error of judgment, and an apology was issued specifically to Manchester United.

The controversial incident occurred during a match where Manchester City had been reduced to 10 players following Phil Foden's dismissal for kicking Bruno Fernandes. Despite the numerical disadvantage, Haaland scored the winning goal at the hour mark, a decision that was initially reviewed and awarded by the video assistant referee (VAR) system before being deemed an error by the refereeing body.
