Preservationists are working to extend the life of a rare Revolutionary War 'witness tree'

Preservationists are working in Eutaw Springs, South Carolina, to extend the life of a rare live oak tree that stands as a witness to the Revolutionary War. Historian Garrison Marcoux is leading efforts to care for the massive, scarred tree, which dates back 245 years to when British soldiers were encamped at the site.

The initiative focuses on conserving the struggling tree, which carries historical significance due to its survival through centuries and its direct connection to Revolutionary War history.
