Abelardo de la Espriella decreed three days of mourning for the victims of the 7.4 magnitude earthquake that shook Colombia

On August 12, the first humanitarian aid flight from El Salvador arrived in Colombia in the early morning hours, carrying 51 tons of supplies following a devastating earthquake that struck the country's western region. The magnitude 7.2 earthquake, which hit on the preceding Monday, has resulted in approximately 240 deaths according to regional authorities.

In response to the disaster, Colombian President Abelardo de la Espriella declared three days of national mourning to honor the victims of the tremor. The arrival of the international aid marks the beginning of relief efforts as the country deals with the widespread destruction and loss of life caused by the seismic event.
