Rescue efforts continue in Nepal amid fears of another flood: at least 626 dead and nearly 3,000 missing

These individuals remain in hospitals, psychiatric facilities, and long-term care centers for months or years due to a lack of familial, community, or state support systems to facilitate their reintegration into society.

The report highlights a significant gap in social and state infrastructure, noting that these populations are effectively abandoned within the healthcare and institutional system. The alert underscores the urgent need for comprehensive care policies to address the absence of support networks that currently prevent these vulnerable groups from exiting institutional settings.
