Projectile damages engine room of tanker off Oman, UKMTO says

The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) has reported that a tanker was struck by an unknown projectile off the coast of Oman. The incident occurred 11 nautical miles northeast of Lima, Oman, resulting in damage to the vessel's engine room.

Prior to this report, the UKMTO had received information regarding a separate sighting 21 nautical miles northeast of Khasab, where the master of a tanker observed a large splash and an explosion in close proximity to their ship. While initial reports from that location indicated no damage to the vessel, the subsequent confirmation of a projectile strike has highlighted ongoing security concerns for maritime traffic in the region.
