Puerto Rico declares a state of emergency due to drought affecting 60% of the island

On Friday, Puerto Rico Governor Jenniffer González signed two executive orders declaring a state of emergency regarding water usage and activating the National Guard. The action comes in response to ongoing drought conditions affecting the island.

According to the provided reports, approximately 25 percent of the territory is currently experiencing severe drought, while an additional 36 percent is affected by moderate drought, bringing the total impacted area to roughly 60 percent of the island.
