An ongoing investigation into the assassination of a woman known as the 'China' Polo has revealed new details regarding the chronology and mechanics of the crime, which authorities are treating as a targeted contract killing, or sicariato. According to the evidence gathered so far, a group of four men traveled to the city of Caraz to carry out the homicide.

Investigators have utilized various pieces of evidence to trace the perpetrators, focusing in particular on recovered video footage, the weapon used in the crime, and the financial trail behind the operation. Notably, surveillance recordings from a lodging located on the 13th block of Girón Sucre captured one of the suspects deliberately pointing out a security camera as he walked down a hallway, indicating a chilling awareness of the surveillance apparatus without attempting to evade it.
