Radzi questions 43-month delay in releasing Tabung Haji RCI report

(Bernama pic)PETALING JAYA: Putrajaya MP Radzi Jidin has questioned why the government took more than 43 months to make public the royal commission of inquiry (RCI) report on Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH) after it was presented to the Cabinet.The Bersatu vice-president compared the delay with the Felda White Paper, which was tabled in the Dewan Rakyat on April 10, 2019, shortly after it was completed and approved by the Attorney-General’s Chambers.Radzi said the Tabung Haji RCI report was presented to the Cabinet on Dec 14, 2022, the year when Anwar Ibrahim became prime minister, but was only made public yesterday.“Many are asking why, after more than 43 months since the Tabung Haji RCI report was presented to the Cabinet, the government is only now releasing it to the public.“That is something the government needs to answer,” he said in a statement.Radzi Jidin compared the tabling timelines for the Felda White Paper and the Tabung Haji RCI report.The government yesterday released the RCI report on TH covering the period from 2014 to 2020, which contained 25 recommendations aimed at improving the fund’s management and governance.The RCI was established in 2021 to investigate TH’s management, operations and asset-related issues between 2014 and 2020, amid concerns over its governance and financial position.The commission completed its report in July 2022.Sharing the process behind the preparation of the Felda White Paper, Radzi said the document was prepared by the economic affairs ministry, which was led by Azmin Ali in 2018.He said that as deputy economic affairs minister, he was tasked with helping to oversee its preparation, which included details of Felda’s internal issues and forensic reports on eight asset purchases or investments.“Once it was completed and received approval from the AGC, the Felda White Paper was immediately tabled in the Dewan Rakyat on April 10, 2019,” he said.
