Burnham blocks early prison release for rapists and serious child sex offenders

Andy Burnham has intervened to block rapists, serious child sex offenders, and groomers from being released early under plans designed to ease critical prison overcrowding in England and Wales. In addition to excluding these categories of offenders, the policy will delay the early release of thousands of other prisoners by a month, pushing the implementation date to October.
