Rare Rolex sat in family drawer for 45 years, then sold for CHF 1.143 million

A rare 1967 Rolex Daytona Reference 6239 in 18k yellow gold, featuring a Paul Newman dial, has been sold at an auction in Geneva for CHF 1.143 million.

The timepiece had been in the possession of the original owner's family for over 45 years before being passed down to two sisters who inherited it.

The final auction price significantly exceeded the initial pre-sale estimate set by Sotheby's, which had valued the rare watch at CHF 300,000.
