Rebecca DePaula: the officer who died from breast implant removal

Rebecca DePaula, an officer with the New York Police Department (NYPD), died following a cosmetic surgery procedure in the Dominican Republic. DePaula had traveled to the country to undergo surgery for the removal of breast implants, a procedure she sought to alleviate physical discomfort caused by the implants.

Following her death, authorities in the Dominican Republic have initiated forensic analysis to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. DePaula's remains are currently being prepared for transport to the United States, where she will be interred.
