Rebecca DePaula: the officer who died from breast implant removal

Rebecca DePaula, an officer with the New York Police Department (NYPD), traveled to the Dominican Republic to undergo cosmetic surgery to remove breast implants and alleviate discomfort she was experiencing. Following the procedure, the officer died in the Dominican Republic under circumstances that prompted local authorities to conduct forensic analyses to determine the cause of death.

In the wake of her death, arrangements are being made to transport her remains back to the United States for burial. Dominican authorities are currently awaiting the final results of the forensic examinations to shed light on the medical events surrounding the procedure.
