The 16th-century relief stolen in 2010 is finally back home: a long journey from the Rastro flea market in Madrid to Navarre, passing through auction houses.

Spanish authorities, including the Mossos d'Esquadra and the National Police, have recovered a 16th-century carved wooden relief depicting the Virgin of the Immaculate Conception. The artifact had been missing for 16 years following its theft from a monastery in the Navarre region.

The recovery concludes a long-term investigation into the whereabouts of the religious artwork. The piece, which functioned as a retable, has now been secured by law enforcement officials.
