The sentences of the officers convicted of the murder of Mapuche man Rafael Nahuel were reduced, and they will not go to prison.

The Sala III of the Federal Chamber of Criminal Cassation in Argentina has reduced the prison sentences of five members of the Albatros group of the Argentine Naval Prefecture. The officers were originally convicted for their involvement in the November security operation that resulted in the death of young Mapuche man Rafael Nahuel. Following the recent judicial ruling, the reduced sentences mean the convicted agents will not face imprisonment.
