Generational change, the main problem for the coconut industry in the Dominican Republic

Agriculture Minister Francisco Oliverio Espaillat Bencosme stated that the generational handover is the primary challenge facing the coconut industry in the Dominican Republic. According to the official, 71 percent of domestic coconut producers are aged 50 or older.

Highlighting the demographic profile of the sector, the minister emphasized that the Dominican state requires the active participation of younger generations to sustain and secure the future of agricultural production.
