Generational change, the main problem for the coconut industry in the Dominican Republic

The Minister of Agriculture of the Dominican Republic, Francisco Oliverio Espaillat Bencosme, has identified the generational handover as the primary challenge facing the country's coconut industry. According to official data presented by the minister, 71 percent of coconut producers are aged 50 or older.

In response to this demographic trend, the minister stated that the Dominican State requires the involvement of younger generations to sustain and secure the future of the agricultural sector.
