Cameroon: School attendance rates increase by 12% in the Southwest

The governor of Cameroon's South-West region, Bernard Okalia Bilai, has announced a 12% increase in school attendance rates across the territory. The figure was revealed following a site visit to several local educational establishments conducted on the first day of the 2026-2027 academic year.

Simultaneously, educational authorities in France reported a contrasting trend in domestic schooling numbers. In the Lot department, academic director Sophie Sarraute detailed a historic decline in student enrollment, noting nearly 400 fewer pupils during the start of the September academic term.
