Authorities in the Dominican Republic have deployed special traffic controls and new restrictions around school environments to prevent congestion ahead of the start of the 2026-2027 academic year.

The operational measures are coordinated by the Instituto Nacional de Tránsito and are scheduled to take effect with the return to classes on Monday, August 24, aiming to manage the anticipated increase in vehicular traffic.
