República Dominicana currently holds the highest rate of child unions in Latin America and the Caribbean for girls under the age of 15. According to a report released in August 2026 by the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), 9.4% of women between the ages of 20 and 24 in the country entered into a union before reaching age 15. This data highlights a significant regional disparity regarding early childhood unions within the specified demographic.
