Sixteen migrants rescued southeast of Formentera, in the third boat rescue of the day in the Balearic Islands

On August 3, authorities in the Balearic Islands rescued multiple groups of migrants arriving via small boats, known as pateras, during a busy day of maritime operations. The Guardia Civil and Salvamento Marítimo intercepted a vessel carrying 16 individuals of Maghrebi origin located six miles southeast of Formentera, marking the third unauthorized boat arrival of the day in the region.

Shortly after, emergency services conducted a fourth rescue operation, intercepting another patera carrying 18 migrants at the entrance of the port of Cabrera. These interventions form part of a continuous sequence of arrivals recorded by maritime rescue authorities on Monday in the Balearic archipelago.
