Residents sheltering in place due to fire at Moss Landing Power Plant

(KRON) -- A new fire ignited at the Moss Landing Power Plant in Monterey County Friday morning and officials are ordering nearby residents to "go indoors immediately." Firefighters with North County Fire Protection District are responding to the blaze, and flames are burning the plant's battery energy storage facility, officials said. (BCN) -- The Monterey County Sheriff's Office has issued shelter-in-place orders Friday morning because of a fire at the Moss Landing Power Plant. The sheriff's office, as of 7:30 a.m., issued the order for an area within a third of a mile from the battery energy storage facility at 7301 Highway 1.
