Those in charge of the Seed Vault highlight its role in combating climate change

Stefan Schmitz, executive director of Crop Trust, highlighted the crucial role of the Global Seed Vault in addressing climate change during statements made in Oviedo, Spain, on October 20. The organization manages the Svalbard Global Seed Vault located in Norway.

The institution was recently awarded the prestigious 2026 Princess of Asturias Award for International Cooperation in recognition of its global efforts to safeguard agricultural biodiversity and secure future food supplies against environmental threats.
