Following an extraordinary security council meeting on the night of Saturday, September 5, 2026, the Mayor's Office of Riohacha ordered a deployment of public security forces across various points of the city.

The increased security measures were implemented during the weekend in response to threats directed at local merchants during the funeral of an individual identified as alias Bendito Menor.
