New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft has issued a statement defending his decision to create what amounts to a ban on rapper Macklemore performing in support of Ed Sheeran at a number of stadiums following the rapper’s comments regarding Palestine, which took place at concerts in New Jersey on Sept. Macklemore announced he will no longer open for Ed Sheeran during the singer’s tour, including scheduled stops at Gillette Stadium, after New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft raised concerns over the rapper’s pro-Palestinian comments.The “Thrift Shop” rapper, who was supposed to open for Sheeran at Gillette Stadium on Sept. 26, posted a lengthy statement on social media Monday outlining his removal from the tour.
Macklemore claimed Sheeran called him to say Kraft informed the singer that Macklemore was not welcome at Gillette Stadium, which is owned by Kraft Sports + Entertainment Group and headquartered at 1 Patriot Place in Foxborough.
