Robles signs the promotion of Antonio Balas to colonel, who will remain in charge of the UCO as requested by the judge in the 'Koldo case'

The Spanish Ministry of Defense has officially promoted Antonio Balas to the rank of colonel within the Civil Guard. Following this promotion, Balas will continue to lead the anti-corruption department of the Central Operational Unit (UCO) under a service commission arrangement.

This decision aligns with a request made by the judge presiding over the 'Koldo case.' According to official terms, Balas's tenure in this position will conclude once the specific circumstances necessitating his service commission are resolved, a permanent replacement is appointed, or the established maximum time limit is reached.
