The Government declares a 'situation of interest for national security' in Ceuta and Torres will assume sole command

The Spanish government has declared a state of national security interest regarding the crisis in Ceuta, triggered by the arrival of over 80,000 migrants across the border from Morocco. In response to the situation, the government has appointed Torres to assume unified command over the response efforts.
